"Miller's Mill"
People have asked me many times where Miller's Mill is located! Like almost all buildings and structures in my paintings, it was created in my mind. Old mills have a beauty all their own and I enjoyed painting this one. I skated a lot when I was a child growing up in Waukegan. I was never very good at it, but my paintings allow me to do what I want to do. So I have put myself (as a child) in each of my skating scenes. In this one, I am the girl in the pink coat and hat and I am skating quite well thanks to my paintbrush. The couple in the sleigh have just passed the old mill, now still and dark. But near the hill, the deer are watching from the cover of the trees. This cold night brings lots of skaters out to enjoy one of their favorite winter pastimes as the snowflakes swirl around them.
